Standard sizes

Standard sizes

In Australia, we use ISO paper sizes (The “A” Series). Simply, the base size is A0 and each size down is made by halving the original. For example, we have an A1 by halving an A0 and have an A2 by halving an A0. The exception of course is DL, which is a third of an A4.

Without trying to get too technical, all sizes are based on a single aspect ratio of the square root of 2 or approximately 1:1.4141.

As a general rule, if you stick to standard paper sizes your job will be cheaper to product than custom sizes.

A0 841 × 1189mm
A1 594 X 841mm
A2 420 x 592mm
A3 297 × 420mm
A4 210 × 297mm
A5 148.5 × 210mm
A6 105 × 148mm
A7 74 × 105mm
A8 52 x 74mm
DL 99 x 210mm

Envelope sizes

A C sized envelope will fit, without any folds, the corresponding number in the “A series”, whereas a DL envelope will fit a standard DL sized sheet (An A4 Folded 2 times).

C3 324 × 458mm
C4 228 × 324mm
C5 162 × 229mm
C6 114 × 162mm
C7 81 × 114.9mm
DL 110 x 220mm
